DropQuest Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2, 2026
DropQuest collects as little as possible, and is upfront about what it does handle. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics, and no tracking.
When you make a quest
- Photos, stop locations, clues, the quest name, your first name, and your note are packaged into the quest. To create a shareable link, the quest is stored in DropQuest's database on Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) service. Friends on iPhone and Android share the same database; the Android app reaches it through a small DropQuest relay that passes requests along and stores nothing. If that isn't possible, the quest is shared as a file directly between devices (AirDrop, Messages, etc.) instead, with no server involved.
- Photos are resized before upload, which also removes hidden photo details like the camera's GPS tag.
When you play a quest
- Your live location is only used on your phone to tell how close you are to the next stop. It is never uploaded.
- When you finish, DropQuest saves a small result to iCloud so the person who made the quest can see it: when you finished, how long it took, and how many hints you used. It contains no location and nothing that identifies you.
What we never collect
- Accounts, sign-in, email addresses, or contacts
- Analytics, tracking, or advertising identifiers
- Anything sold or shared with third parties
Keeping and deleting data
A quest you send stays in iCloud until you delete it from the quest's page in DropQuest, or until we remove it after a report of inappropriate content. Trophies and your quest history are stored only on your phone. Access to stored quests is limited to what's needed to operate DropQuest and respond to reports.
Changes to this policy
If DropQuest's data practices change, this page will be updated to reflect that.
